Sen. Ted Cruz skeptical of Senate’s ability to pass BCRA

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has been one of the most vocal conservative critics of the Better Care Reconciliation Act, and expressed some doubts as to whether the bill can actually get passed during a town hall meeting Wednesday, according to The Hill.

Mr. Cruz has proposed an amendment to the bill that would allow insurers to sell plans on state exchanges that are not compliant with ACA regulations as long as they also offer plans that are compliant. However, even with his amendment on the table, Mr. Cruz was hesitant to say anything definitive about the bill’s passage.

“The process of repealing it in Congress has been messy. It’s been bumpy. I am not certain we will get it done. I hope we will. I believe we will,” Mr. Cruz said.
