“To cement these protections, I proudly introduced this resolution to ensure that patients with pre-existing conditions are protected from the erroneously high costs and the limited options they are experiencing now,” Mr. Sessions said in a press release. “I am glad to lead my colleagues in this effort to fight for those who need it most and ensure their access to affordable and high-quality healthcare.”
Mr. Sessions is not the first Republican representative to issue a resolution to protect people with pre-existing conditions. Iowa Rep. David Young also did so in September, according to The Hill. Both Mr. Young and Mr. Sessions face competition on the campaign trail from Democrats, who say Republicans have voted for bills that would not protect affordable coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.
