The suit, filed in 2009, claimed the hospital breached Dr. Karaman’s contract, interfered with his practice and lured him to the area using false representations. Dr. Karaman relocated to the area from Wyoming in 2008 to serve as chair of the hospital’s radiology department, according to the report.
As part of the agreement, the hospital provided Dr. Karaman with a $150,000 promissory note. Dr. Karaman claimed that because of the breach of contract, he was not obligated to perform under the promissory note. The hospital filed a counterclaim against Dr. Karaman over the money.
The case was scheduled for mediation in December. The details of the settlement were not released, but the County Common Pleas Court recently dismissed both Dr. Karaman’s claim and the hospital’s counterclaim with prejudice.
