Here are three things to know:

1. MIHS will be rebranded to Valleywise Health and adopt the new name and logo in mid-2019. The decision was approved by the Maricopa County Special Health Care District board of directors Oct. 24.

2. MIHS President and CEO Steve Purves told azcentral the rebranding aims to create a more easily identifiable brand. The health system comprises a hospital, two behavioral health centers, an outpatient specialty center and 12 family health centers.

3. Officials told the publication the district and its board will continue to oversee the health system. MIHS can trace its beginnings in Phoenix as far back as 1877, before Arizona was a state, according to the report.
