Members of Service Employees International Union Local 121RN and United Healthcare Workers West plan to picket at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, Calif., and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo, Calif. The unions represent more than 1,500 nurses and healthcare workers at the two hospitals.
An SEIU representative said negotiations with Dignity Health have been going “poorly” after the previous contracts expired in February, according to the report.
Dignity Health released a statement, according to the report. “We are disappointed with the union’s decision to resort to informational picketing and regret any inconvenience this might cause our patients, physicians and staff,” it said. “Dignity Health remains eager and willing to resolve these issues in a respectful and professional manner.”
