Nurses at Eastern Maine Medical Center to Strike

Nurses at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, have scheduled a one-day strike for Nov. 22 after failing to agree to a contract with the hospital, according to a Bangor Daily News report.

The 833 unionized nurses at the hospital, part of the Maine State Nurses Association, have been working without a contract since September due to disagreements on nurse staffing levels, according to the report.

An EMMC representative said replacement nurses will be hired during the strike, and the strike should not affect patient care.
