The renovation plan calls for updates to the physical plant to accommodate increased need for outpatient, surgical, rehabilitation and long-term care services, according to the report. These will include new surgical suites, a new imaging center and a wheelchair-accessible front entrance.
Other updates include separate entrances for emergency and ambulatory services; expanded ambulatory services, operating rooms and recovery areas; updated maternity rooms; improved parking and a modernization of the nursing home and rehab areas; and HVAC systems, according to the report. The plans also include the removal of 40 patient beds to accommodate larger rooms, improved ventilation systems, installation of a sprinkler system and moving the radiology department closer to the emergency room.
In September, WCCHS received a $4.2 million grant through the Health Care Efficiency and Affordability Law of New York State, which led to the renovation plan.
