New Outpatient Center in Illinois to Meet Challenges of Healthcare Reform

St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill., is building a $6.9 million outpatient center to meet changes under healthcare reform, such as an increase in patient volume and new payment structures, according to a report by the State Journal-Register.

As hospitals across the nation establish outpatient centers and hire primary care doctors and other providers to meet pent-up demand, and CEO Bob Ritz said the 734-bed hospital is making the same preparations.

The new center opens in February.
