More Than 3K Nurses to Strike at Sutter Health Hospitals

Up to 3,200 registered nurses are prepared to strike at five hospitals within Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health, according to a San Francisco Chronicle report.

California hospitals slated for the one-day strike are: Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley and Oakland, San Leandro Hospital, Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch, Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo and Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.

This is the sixth strike the California Nurses Association has planned against Sutter Health since September 2011. The union and health system have been locked in contract negotiations for the past year and a half, according to the report.

The strike is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Thursday and end 24 hours later.
