The hospital laid off 75 employees in April 2011. In January, it eliminated some of its executive positions through a restructuring, leaving some leaders with dual roles.
The hospital has lost millions over the last year, averaging a loss of roughly $1 million each month. Hospital CEO Roger Forgey said the layoffs are the result of the hospital’s effort to find a size the community can support. Currently, Erlanger at Hutcheson is certified for 176 beds, but Mr. Forgey said the right figure might be closer to 50 to 75.
