Kenneth Posey, who spent more than 50 years in hospital administration and was described as a “dedicated advocate” for rural healthcare, died July 23. He was 89.
Mr. Posey spent 36 years as CEO of Jasper General Hospital in Bay Springs, Miss., and retired at age 79, according to his obituary. He also previously served as president of the Mississippi Hospital Association and as CEO of Riley Hospital in Meridian, Miss.
“With over 50 years in hospital administration, he was a dedicated advocate for rural hospitals, patients, and communities — and a dear friend of the Mississippi Hospital Association,” the association wrote in a July 24 Facebook post. “His commitment to making hospitals better for the people they serve will be deeply missed.”
In retirement, Mr. Posey was a board member for Neshoba General Hospital in Philadelphia, Miss., and served twice as chairman. His career was marked by “integrity, wisdom, and servant leadership,” strengthening rural healthcare across the state for generations to come, Neshoba General wrote in a July 24 Facebook post.
“Kenneth Posey exemplified what it means to lead with integrity, wisdom, and a servant’s heart,” CEO Lee McCall said in the post. “His leadership helped shape the future of Neshoba General, and his legacy will continue to inspire us for years to come.”
