Adventist is asking the commission to delay its final ruling, scheduled for Jan. 20, until further study can be done. Adventist claims that the commission has made “flawed and unsupported conclusions about cost and other key factors,” according to the report.
Holy Cross and Adventist have been vying for approval to build in the county for two years. Both filed for a certificate of need to build hospitals in Montgomery County, and the proposed locations would be only a few miles apart.
Adventist has proposed an 86-bed, $177 million hospital in Clarksburg, Md., while Holy Cross proposed a 93-bed, $202 million hospital in Germantown, Md.
