Most of the job cuts are due to the health system shutting down its patient financial services department. Its parent, Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System, will manage patient financial services moving forward. Jobs in environmental services and management roles will also be affected by the layoffs, according to the report.
University of Maryland Capital Region Health will provide severance packages to affected workers, who may still apply for other positions within the health system, a spokesperson told the Washington Business Journal.
