LinkedIn to start fact checking résumés

LinkedIn was recently granted a patent that would enable it to fact check everything people claim on the site, according to Business Insider.

Inventor Lucas Myslinski first filed the patent for an “Interactive Fact Checking System” in 2013. LinkedIn has since acquired the patent, which is described as a system that “automatically monitors, processes, fact checks information and indicates a status of the information,” according to the report.

However, even if LinkedIn does implement this fact checking system into its platform, it would be unlikely for it to function completely independently, because fully automating the fact checking process for every single detail on someone’s résumé will be difficult.
