Mr. Otter directed his state insurance commissioner earlier this month to loosen ACA restrictions in order to offer residents lower-cost insurance options. He argued these new policies would reach Idahoans who do not qualify for Medicaid enrollment or federal subsidies.
“We believe Idaho will lead the way in states taking back control of their insurance markets,” said Mr. Otter, according to the Coeur d’Alene Press. “What [President Donald Trump] tried to do [by repealing the individual mandate] is ease the pain Obamacare created in each state.”
