Officials at the 276-bed hospital said a significant number of uncollectible accounts backed up from 2009.

The hospital’s 2010 lawsuits amount to $1 million in unpaid charges, a 31 percent increase over last year. However, the average amount owed per person is almost $5,000 less than last year and some of the court actions are for less than $300 in owed bills.
