Uniontown (Pa.) Hospital landed a contract to act as an additional provider of the services, meaning Highlands still has a contract as well.
However, Highlands CEO Michelle Cunningham has said, “It will be very difficult for Highlands Hospital to continue cost efficiencies with the pool of inpatient admissions now being spread across two facilities because of this unnecessary duplication of services and the excess capacity it has created,” according to the report.
She said management is meeting to discuss potential layoffs.
