Healthcare Posts Second-Highest Jobs Gain in Past Decade

In September 2012, the healthcare sector gained 44,000 jobs — the second-highest jump the sector has seen in the past 10 years, according to a report from the Altarum Institute’s Center for Sustainable Health Spending (pdf).

The 24-month moving average of job growth in the healthcare sector is 25,000.

Ambulatory services added the most jobs of any healthcare group with 30,000. Hospitals added 8,000 jobs, while nursing and residential care added 6,000 jobs.
