An HCA official said the company is focusing on regaining financial stability at the Georgia hospital. As a result, they are looking closely at operations and how to strengthen the care team.
“When we find opportunities to strengthen the organization, we have to make those changes. This week, our team took the very difficult step of saying goodbye to 85 team members who have served this hospital and this community well,” an HCA spokesperson said in a statement emailed to WTOC.
As a result of the layoffs, other team members stepped into new roles that “focus more directly on care delivery.”
Going forward, the hospital is looking to recruit more than 200 employees for patient care roles.
The HCA official did not disclose which positions were affected by the layoffs.
