Former Bristol Hospital CIO plans to run as a Republican candidate for Connecticut House

Dave Rackliffe, the former CIO of Bristol (Conn.) Hospital, is throwing his hat in the ring for Connecticut’s 79th District House seat, according to the Hartford Courant.

Mr. Rackliffe blames Democrats for the state’s economy and plans to run on the Republican ticket. If state Republicans endorse him, he would face Democratic incumbent Chris Ziogas in the November election.

Mr. Rackliffe, who currently works as a financial consultant, added that Connecticut is overtaxed and state spending must be controlled. He also argues businesses face too many regulations.

“We’ve fallen behind and are not positioned to compete for jobs, businesses or even people,” he told the Hartford Courant. “It is obvious to me that we need a significant change in direction and leadership in Hartford to move us forward instead of business-as-usual politics and single-party control.”
