Miami-based Cano Health has named Eric Jenkins CEO, succeeding Mark Kent, who departed the primary care provider in March to focus on his next business venture.
Mr. Jenkins served as Aetna’s vice president of national network strategy and provider experience from November 2023 to September 2024, according to his LinkedIn page. He previously held leadership roles at Humana, ArchWell Health and CenterWell Senior Primary Care, according to an April 1 Cano Health news release.
“The appointment of Eric Jenkins as CEO marks a pivotal moment for Cano Health as the organization enters a new era of growth and innovation,” Cano Health’s executive chairman Alan Wheatley said in the release. “With his proven leadership in healthcare, we are confident that Cano Health will continue to thrive and provide high-quality care to Medicare beneficiaries across Florida.”
Before departing in March, Mr. Kent served as Cano’s CEO since 2023. Under his tenure, the company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy and reorganized as a private company focused on providing quality care in the Florida market.
