The hospital operator generated revenue of $790.6 million from continuing operations, up from $735.3 million from the second quarter of 2009.
Income from continuing operations attributable to LifePoint Hospitals’ stockholders for the second quarter increased 29.1 percent to $37.5 million, compared to $29.0 million for the same period last year.
In commenting on the results, William F. Carpenter III, president and CEO of LifePoint, said in the release, “Our performance in the second quarter remained strong across the board. Our results reflected the success of our strategy to enhance performance through improving the quality of care provided at our hospitals, recruiting the right physicians to communities where they are needed, expanding service lines, improving hospital emergency departments and making selective acquisitions.”
