CHS currently operates the hospital as a stand-alone facility as part of a 25-year lease that is set to expire in 2020. Under the current lease the county earns approximately $3 million per year in payments from CHS.
The new arrangement would include annual payments of $6.1 million and a one-time payment of $54 million from cash on hand, according to the report. CMC-Union employees would become employees of the larger health system, and the new agreement would allow CHS to invest its funds in CMC-Union capital projects.
