Coursera offers 100+ healthcare-focused online classes

Coursera, an organization that provides online courses and credentialing, now offers a slew of classes related to healthcare to address the growing shortage of skilled healthcare workers, Digital Health Age reports.

The platform has added more than 100 new courses and 30 new specializations related to health informatics, healthcare management and public health. The content is targeted toward those who already working in healthcare, as well as those who are interested in embarking on a new career. Coursera also offers two master’s degrees in public health.

“I am deeply passionate about driving innovation in healthcare,” Daphne Koller, co-founder of Coursera told Digital Health Age. “The sector, which is under enormous strain to support the needs of a growing and aging population, presents a huge opportunity for meaningful technological transformation that stands to not only improve health outcomes for people around the world but also reduce the increasingly unaffordable costs of healthcare, both to individuals and to society.

Coursera has partnered with the University of Michigan, Imperial College London, University of Colorado, Columbia University, Emory University, John Hopkins University and University of Minnesota to develop and offer the new courses.
