The hospital and Massachusetts Nurses Association were in a deadlock over staffing ratios and a successor clause that would protect union members if the hospital were to be acquired by another system this year, which is a possibility. Potential partners are Baystate Health in Springfield, Mass., and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
The tentative contract with the union includes a 1 percent raise for nurses at all pay scales on July 22, along with a 1 percent ratification bonus and 1 percent increase for RNs at the top of the pay scale. Nurses at the hospital earn between $30.84 and $47.41 hourly, according to the report.
A union official hopes the tentative agreement will be ratified next month.
