Conservative groups plan to release ACA replacement plan

A coalition of conservative groups led by the Heritage Foundation, Galen Institute and former Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Penn., hope to release a healthcare plan later in May that can serve as an alternative to the ACA, according to The Hill.

The groups have been meeting at Heritage's Washington, D.C., offices every week for months. Along with White House officials, they've been crafting a plan that could potentially replace the ACA, though it has very little chance of passing through Congress in 2018.

Congressional Republicans may have moved past ACA repeal efforts, but President Donald Trump's administration has signaled its support for the proposal.

"The White House fully supports the efforts of a broad coalition working to address the Obamacare disaster and increase affordable healthcare options for middle-class Americans," said Hogan Gidley, a deputy press secretary for the White House, according to The Hill.
