The 60,000-square foot ER triples the size of the previous department and will feature 61 patient care spaces, a dedicated pediatric emergency center and expanded laboratory and radiology services, according to the report.
The opening of the Center for Emergency Medicine completes UH’s $1.2 billion fundraising and construction project, Vision 2010. Other facilities expanded or built as part of the effort include a new ER at UH Twinsburg Health Center, Seidman Cancer Center, UH Ahuja Medical Center, and the newly renovated neonatal intensive care unit at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. The project also included the deployment of an electronic medical record system, according to the report.
