Cigna CEO David Cordani succeeds Kaiser’s Bernard J. Tyson as AHIP chair

Board directors of the biggest trade group for health insurers, America’s Health Insurance Plans, named Cigna CEO David Cordani as chair of the board beginning in January 2019.

Mr. Cordani will succeed Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente Chairman and CEO Bernard J. Tyson as chair. Mr. Tyson is serving as AHIP chair for 2018.

AHIP also selected WellCare Health Plans CEO Ken Burdick to serve as the association’s board chair-elect for 2019 and board chair for 2020.

Mr. Cordani has led Cigna since 2009, while Mr. Burdick has helmed WellCare since 2015.
