Mr. Unger has been with the Poudre Valley Health System since 2001. He served as the vice president of planning and strategic development of the system and vice president of operations of Poudre Valley Hospital before he became CEO.
His experience as a healthcare executive has earned Mr. Unger national recognition. He made Becker’s Hospital Review‘s 2012 list of 300 hospital and health system leaders to know. In 2009, he was named the Robert. S. Hudgens Young Healthcare Executive of the year through the American College of Healthcare Executives. In 2002, Mr. Unger was named one of northern Colorado’s “40 under forty” by the Northern Colorado Business Report in recognition of his impact on Poudre Valley Health System and his contributions to the community.
Mr. Unger earned masters’ degrees in health administration and business administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.
