Mr. Cole has been with Virginia Hospital Center since 1985. Prior to becoming president and CEO, he served as vice president of professional services, vice president of strategic planning and senior vice president and COO during his time at the hospital.
During his time as CEO, Mr. Cole oversaw the planning and opening of Virginia Hospital Center’s new facility in 2004. “From the moment the new hospital was envisioned, we began designing around the concept of patient-centered care,” Mr. Cole said in a press release.
Mr. Cole was also a part of bringing CyberKnife, a cancer treatment system, to Virginia Hospital Center in 2007. “Bringing the CyberKnife to our patients clearly demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to providing the most advanced and effective cancer care to our community,” Mr. Cole said.
Mr. Cole is a member of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association board and the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association federal advocacy council. He is also a trustee of the John Leland Center for Theological Studies.
Before becoming a healthcare executive, Mr. Cole served in the United States Army as a first lieutenant from 1972 to 1974.
