Dell Ingram-Walker, president of Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center in Temple, Texas, died March 22, local NBC affiliate KCEN-TV reported March 24.
Ms. Ingram-Walker dedicated more than 26 years of her career to serving children, families and care teams, leading with grace and integrity, a spokesperson for Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health said in a March 25 statement shared with Becker’s.
She was appointed president of Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s in October 2024. She interned at the system before accepting a full-time role as a pediatric financial analyst in 1999. She later became vice president of clinical operations in 2013, vice president of medical center and outpatient clinic operations in 2018 and COO in 2021.
Under her leadership, Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s expanded services, enhanced care quality and expanded its emergency department, procedure suites and clinics.
Ms. Ingram-Walker was also a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter. The chapter described her as a distinguished leader and trailblazer who was the hospital’s first Black female vice president, COO and president in a March 24 LinkedIn post.
“… her leadership was both historic and transformative, breaking barriers and creating pathways for those who will follow,” the chapter said. “She was a force in healthcare leadership and a representation of excellence, dedication, and service to community.”
Baylor Scott & White Health said Ms. Ingram-Walker’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the culture of compassion and excellence she helped build.
“Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with Dell’s loved ones and all who are grieving this unimaginable loss,” the spokesperson said. “We also hold close and are offering support to our McLane Children’s and Baylor Scott & White team members who are mourning a leader who meant so much to so many.”
