Job candidates will be tested for tobacco use and those who test positive will not be offered employment. The Baptist Health campus is already smoke free, and current employees are exempt from the policy but have been offered cessation classes, according to the system.

Texas does not ban discrimination against smokers, though twenty-nine other states and the District of Columbia do ban the practice, according to the report.
