Barnwell (S.C) County is in negotiations with Healthcare Management Partners to sell Barnwell County Hospital after a tri-county agreement felt apart earlier in July, according to a People-Sentinel report.

The proposed Tri-County Regional Health System came to a halt when both Allendale County withdrew. HMP presented the Barnwell County Hospital Board with a new proposal at a July 21 meeting, and is scheduled to discuss it further with Barnwell council members during another meeting tomorrow — which may or may not result in a decision, according to print reports.

Under the reported revised plan, the hospital would be built in Barnwell County, excluding Bamberg County, according to print reports. If a contract is approved, there will still be three readings and a public hearing before a sale.

Dobbs Equity Partners also had a meeting with Barnwell County Hospital Board on July 28,  but council members decided they would not accept the proposal.
