AMA’s president-elect is Texas allergist, immunologist Dr. Susan Bailey

The American Medical Association voted Susan Bailey, MD, its president-elect June 8.

Five things to know:

1. Dr. Bailey is an allergist and immunologist from Fort Worth, Texas, where she has been practicing privately since 1988.

2. She will assume the office in June 2020.

3. Dr. Bailey will be the third consecutive female physician to be named AMA president-elect.

4. She will bring more than 30 years of clinical practice experience to the position.

5. Before she was first elected to the AMA Board of Trustees in 2011, Dr. Bailey was president of the Texas Medical Association and the Tarrant County Medical Society.
