The attacker, who has been identified as Abdul Artan, drove his car into pedestrians on the sidewalk shortly before 10 a.m. About a minute after Mr. Artan began his attack, he was shot dead by a campus police officer, according to The New York Times.
Victims of the attack were taken to three Columbus hospitals: OSU Wexner Medical Center, Grant Medical Center and Riverside Methodist Hospital. During a press conference Monday afternoon, OSU Wexner CMO Andrew Thomas, MD, said all but one of the 11 victims was in stable condition.
Investigators are searching for a motive behind Mr. Artan’s knife attack. According to USA Today, the FBI is investigating the incident, and it is not yet known whether the attack was terror-related.
