During a time of significant change for OSF HealthCare—amidst recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic and supporting 40% growth with expansion in five markets—OSF was able to realize significant savings by embarking on an innovative data intelligence engagement. Through a strategic partnership with Pointcore and TADA Cognitive Solutions, they realized over $108 million in cost savings and exponential efficiency gains.
Challenge
For all health systems, the past five years have been fraught with change and increasingly difficult circumstances to remain profitable, be more efficient and provide the best possible level of care for the communities they serve. OSF HealthCare, a large and growing health system based in Peoria, IL, was experiencing challenges with supply chain, asset inventory and labor resources following unprecedented operational circumstances. As part of an effort to preserve and improve healthcare, OSF had onboarded five hospital campuses across five markets, leading to growth across all aspects of the health system—namely 67% growth in assets under management, which impacted operations including supply chain, biomedical healthcare technology management and IT. They needed to find a way to drive synergies and efficiencies while building trust and visibility.
Solution
OSF HealthCare partnered with Pointcore to uncover a solution that would help the health system solve their operational challenges. Pointcore’s Data Intelligence leaders reviewed the internal landscape and processes of various operations at OSF and determined that there were gaps exasperated by growth, causing fragmented visibility. They aligned the leaders of OSF around a common goal.
FIRST: The first step in the solution involved assembling a committee to collaborate and focus on the task and the selection of TADA to partner on the effort. Pointcore leveraged their PathSeeker Methodology™ to develop a new solution that built on TADA’s unique ability to connect disparate data and systems using their patented AI-Enabled Digital Twin technology. This cutting-edge approach, coupled with guidance and industry perspective from Pointcore, led to the creation of a new ultimate command and control center comprised of healthcare modules complementary to internal departments of OSF. The result produced advanced integration, real-time visibility and actionable insights.
NEXT: The following healthcare modules were developed to form the Business Operations Command Center with the goal of connecting data to reduce silos, uncover efficiencies and get to answers more quickly.
