Rush’s new hospital received high marks because of its green design, construction and operation. In addition, the certification acknowledges the hospital’s energy and water conservation, efficient lighting, and the sustainable building material used to build it. About 20 percent of the steel used in construction came from recycled material; 70 percent of the wood used for doors came from certified sustainable forests.
The 14-story, $654 million Tower at Rush opened in January. Click here to take an interactive tour of the new hospital.
