UF Health Announces Specialty Tower

University of Florida Health at Gainesville has unveiled plans to build a neurologic and cardiovascular specialty tower on its UF Health Shands Hospital campus, also in Gainesville.

In addition to expanded neurologic and cardiovascular care, the center will feature pediatric and neonatal intensive care units as well as an expansion of the UF Health Congenital Heart Center.

The tower will house approximately 240 beds, 18 operating rooms and outpatient facilities.

UF Health expects to begin tower construction next summer and open the facility some time in 2018, according to a news release.
