Sibley’s plans for a $130 million proton therapy treatment center were partially rejected by regulators in May, as Sibley is not licensed to provide pediatric care. Sibley’s partnership with Children’s will help the hospital circumvent this objection.

The partners will formally apply for a certificate of need for the center in September.
