A former employee from Winchester (Va.) Medical Center claims the hospital fired her out of retaliation after she complained of racial discrimination, threats and harassment by co-workers, according to a Northern Virginia Daily report.

Lora Skinner was fired in 2009 after being placed on paid leave when she filed a discrimination complaint. When Ms. Skinner returned, she claims the hospital cut her weekly hours, reduced her pay and denied her overtime. She was finally fired four days after filing discrimination complaints with the human resources director of the hospital, alleging abuse and harassment from white co-workers.

Ms. Skinner is seeking $2.4 million in compensatory and punitive damages from the hospital. She is demanding a jury trial.
