Wrangell Medical Center names new CEO: 4 things to know

The Wrangell (Alaska) Medical Center Board of Directors has hired Robert Rang as the new hospital CEO, according to KSTK News.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Rang.

1. He will take over for Marla Sanger, who has been interim CEO since November 2012.

2. In the report, Mr. Rang said he was attracted to the CEO position in Wrangell because of the community and the facility itself. “I understand that [the hospital’s]  wanting to pursue the new building. And having that experience in my current position with a new facility, I liked that challenge and thought I could utilize my resources and skill set to help facilitate that as well,” he said, according to KSTK News.

3. Mr. Rang is long-term care administrator at Providence Kodiak Island (Alaska) Medical Center. Prior to that, he worked for the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska.

4. Before taking on healthcare leadership positions, Mr. Rang was a nurse for 20 years.
