Vandalia Health, based in Charleston, W.Va., has named James Gainer, MD, interim chief administrative officer of Davis Medical Center, effective April 21.

Dr. Gainer assumed the role following the departure of Ron Andro and will oversee operations while the organization searches for a permanent successor, according to an April 27 news release.

He has served as associate chief medical officer at the hospital for the past 18 months, providing clinical and operational leadership.

Dr. Gainer previously served as chief medical information officer for Davis Health System and earlier helped organize the hospital’s first hospitalist program, serving as its medical director for more than a decade.
