Employees were notified about the change in leadership earlier this week, according to the statement. Mathew Weimer, MD, Valley Health’s vice president of health services and chief medical officer, is listed as interim president and CEO on the organization’s website.
“As this is a personnel issue, no further comments will be forthcoming,” the statement said.
Mr. Shattls has been with Valley Health nearly since its inception in 1975, according to The Herald-Dispatch.
Valley Health operates more than 40 healthcare facilities in Southern West Virginia, Southeastern Ohio and Eastern Kentucky, according to its website.
