WellSpan taps chief people officer

WellSpan Health appointed Aaron Gillingham senior vice president and chief people officer for the York, Pa.-based health system, effective Sept. 5.

Mr. Gillingham, who has more than 25 years of human resources leadership experience, will serve as a strategic leader focused on accountability for WellSpan’s human capital strategy by developing a comprehensive approach to culture, inclusion and workforce. 

He most recently served as senior vice president and chief human resources officer at West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health. He also has leadership experience in retail and financial services, including Walmart.

Mr. Gillingham has a Master of Science degree in human resource development from Villanova (Pa.) University. He also completed leadership programs through the Harvard Business School in Boston and Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business in Hanover, N.H. 

Bob Batory, who served as senior vice president for human resources at WellSpan, will retire Oct. 1, following a transition period.
