Mr. Tugman’s appointment is effective Oct. 7, according to an Oct. 10 news release from the system. He also served as Centra’s interim CEO in 2021.
Before his most recent stint as interim CEO, Mr. Tugman was president and CEO of Piedmont Community Health Plan, a Centra subsidiary.
He succeeds Amy Carrier, who became CEO in September 2021 and exited the role in March.
Centra operates four hospitals and five medical centers among its care facilities.
