Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health has appointed Erich Huang, MD, PhD, vice president of informatics and chief research information officer.
Dr. Huang will oversee data science and research informatics strategy for the health system, its national clinical trial network and Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C. As part of his role, he will help integrate informatics into the medical school’s education and training programs, according to a March 24 news release.
Dr. Huang most recently served as associate chief clinical officer for technology and informatics at Alphabet’s health technology subsidiary Verily, where he worked with health systems to improve the quality and use of complex clinical data. Previously, he served as chief data officer for quality at Durham, N.C.-based Duke Health and as founding co-director of Duke Forge, the health data science center at Duke University.
