Verde Valley Medical Center CEO resigns: 4 things to know

Barbara S. Dember, president and CEO of Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood, Ariz., has resigned, according to a Verde Independent report.

Here are four things to know about Ms. Dember and her resignation.

1. Ms. Dember's resignation became effective July 15.

2. Ms. Dember has worked at Flagstaff-based Northern Arizona Healthcare, of which VVMC is a part, for seven years, first as a vice president at Flagstaff Medical Center and later transferring into a similar role at VVMC. At VVMC, Ms. Dember advanced to CEO, a position she held for approximately two years. During those two years, she was also named an executive vice president of Northern Arizona Healthcare.

3. At Northern Arizona Healthcare, Ms. Dember's leadership paved the way for many new programs and initiatives, including establishing the multi-specialty Verde Valley Medical Clinic; construction of Valley View Care, an assisted and end-of-life care facility; development of the Community Care Network, a program bridging the gap between hospital and home; and groundbreaking at the future Camp Verde Campus, according to the report.

4. VVMC CNO Sue Maiden will serve as the interim hospital administrator.
