Valleywise Health taps chief clinical officer as CEO

Phoenix-based Valleywise Health has selected Michael White, MD, as its next president and CEO. 

The Maricopa County Special Health Care District Board of Directors announced it will appoint Dr. White at a July 8 board meeting, and he will assume the role Aug. 1, according to a July 1 health system news release.

Dr. White has served as executive vice president and chief clinical officer since 2019. He succeeds Steve Purves, who is retiring after leading the health system through 12 years of transformation.

Before joining Valleywise Health, Dr. White served as chief academic officer for CHI Health in Omaha, Neb.
