Jita Pandya Buño has been appointed CEO of the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, effective Sept. 1.
She will succeed Cindy Hecker, who is retiring in July, according to a June 27 LinkedIn post from Seattle-based UW Medicine. Brad Simmons, president of UW Medicine Hospitals & Clinics, will serve as acting CEO during the transition.
Ms. Buño serves as senior vice president and associate COO at Sacramento, Calif.-based UC Davis Health. She joined the system in 2007 as a senior budget analyst and later served as business officer and director of supply chain management, according to her LinkedIn profile.
UW Medical Center includes 910 beds across two campuses.
