Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania Health System has announced two executive leadership changes at Lancaster (Pa.) General Health, more than one week after LG Health became a member of UPHS (Penn Medicine).

Here are six things to know about the leaders and their changing roles.

UPHS CEO Ralph W. Muller appointed Thomas E. Beeman as COO of UPHS regional operations.

1. In his new role, Mr. Beeman will lead the management, coordination and integration of all UPHS services outside of Philadelphia, including its inpatient, ambulatory and post-acute settings.

2. Prior to his new role, Mr. Beeman served for more than a decade as CEO of LG Health.

3. During his time as CEO of LG Health, the organization implemented an EMR, engaged physicians in leadership and research, strengthened its financial foundation and expanded enrollment at the PA College of Health Sciences by more than 200 percent, according to a news release.

Mr. Muller also, in consultation with the LG Health Board of Trustees, appointed Jan Bergen president and CEO of LG Health.

4. As LG Health CEO, Ms. Bergen will be responsible for leading the organization, from its hospitals and outpatient pavilions, to its physician network and major service lines.

5. Ms. Bergen has served 15 years with LG Health, most recently as COO. She also served as LG Health's CEO in 2010, while Mr. Beeman spent nearly a year on active duty as deputy commander for the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

6. During her 15 years of service with LG Health, Ms. Bergen led the expansion of the system's ambulatory network, its mission and community benefit efforts, in addition to the opening of the Women & BabiesHospital in Lancaster.
